In the echoes of yesterday, you loved me.
Now lost in the whispers of phantoms;
In memories I can’t reach, I’m consumed,
A bittersweet darkness that lingers, holding tight.
Here, in denial, I feel your touch, see your brown eyes,
Feel you in the air, hum to your heartbeat,
But it’s all lie; one I accepted, as life drags along,
Reality cruel, but I refuse truth.
Because our promises; red thread, now untied,
Dreams we held, now scattered, lost in a place I can’t reach.
Love, they all feel, still so real to me,
Even if these whispers, tell me, to let go.
Wilting lilies, sit at the window,
As the sunlight dims. Home stands still as the world spins.

Writer's Statement: Honestly? I guess I'm trying to figure out where I am now with my mom gone. I was too young to lose her, but to the world, I'm supposed to hurry up and move along. Life, it doesn't wait for anyone. So this is my goodbye to her. Words I can't say, but I hope maybe can reach her. To you, the reader, I hope you smile today and find a reason to be happy.
