The agonizing pain of losing a cancer-cursed child remains.
The poor child’s light was extinguished by the pain. Cancer dimmed their inner light except a strain. Endless radiation and chemotherapy left them lame. Time for goodbye, so family came. Nothing would be the same; Who was to blame? Cancer’s a shame. Innocent child, gone. |
"My inspiration for this piece came from my experience of volunteering with cancer patients at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. I have recently lost two kids I visited every week and it has been hard to accept." - Claire Schnoebelen, 11th grade, Regina High School.
