Down pours the rain After awhile It will all go down the drain
The sound soothes away any pain The pitter-patter makes it worthwhile Down pours the rain
The water collects in a lane The rain goes down a narrow aisle It will all go down the drain
Together the drops can bomb a large plane But the drops alone are soft and fragile Down pours the rain
After the intensity starts to wane It is clear that the stream stretches for a mile It will all go down the drain
The sound slowly becomes mundane It no longer brings a smile Down pours the rain It will all go down the drain
Poetry
Author's Note: I wrote this poem on a rainy day. It was calming at first, but after a couple of hours I was annoyed that I couldn't go outside without getting wet.
