Drowning
By: Kellen Warren
drowning in a sea of monotony
no purpose packed in purportless paddling dreams destroyed by waves of reality lack of fresh perspective is strangling forced submersion by life’s constant current of pain and destruction for one to bear reimposed by those who wish you weren’t you. your thoughts and actions are gasps for air futile as you sink into murky depths so black and bleak the light’s begun to fade succumbing to a fate far worse than death you imagine the world you could have made if you rejected the world and stayed true to the innocent dreams that made you, you |
Writer's Statement: This writing was inspired by the monotonous world I fear as I enter college and the real world. I emphasized this sense of monotony by removing all capitalization and limiting punctuation, this also further created the sense of drowning in the words.
