The bright moon glistens
against the stars and dark summer night sky. A light breeze making my braid loose as I carry my two-year-old cousin to the car. Her skin, covered in sweat, sticking to my shirt as her tiny legs droop down from my arms. Strolling down the concrete driveway, sounds of cars and cicadas fill the air. |
Her face
rests along my shoulders refusing to leave me as I open the door to the gray Acura. I begin to peel away her arms from my neck, her tired face pleading me to stop. I place her comfortably in the car seat and gently adjust her colorful shirt. She glances at me as I softly close the door and watch them drive off. |
