It can be disorienting,
At the top of a stage—eyes upon eyes,
Expectation after expectation,
They’re watching—I can tell.
Expect nothing from me! I’m worthless! I beg,
But they pile and pile and pile--
the mountain grows; it tilts with the wind,
I yell again receiving nothing.
I must be too high, on my tippy-toes and
I wonder how long I can last.
It becomes easy to venture,
And sometimes, I just want to tumble down it,
ratify—revoke?
revoke, give nothing--

Writer's Statement: High expectations are important but they have to be reasonable. Why is it that in kindergarten kids are now being tested from the beginning of the year to the end of the year? They even took away nap time! Kids need a break, and we can only give them so much paperwork before they decide it's better to jump off that mountain than try to follow the expectations they have been subjected to.
