Survival (Villanelle)
By Jack Goedken
I run from the beast throughout the night
No matter how fast I move it is close behind me
I have to avoid the fatal bite
In the distance I see a light
But in the distance I hear the cry of a Banshee
I run from the beast throughout the night
I fear my time might come tonight
As I feel the pressure of the deep blue sea
I have to avoid the fatal bite
Little do I know I will never escape the fight
And the beast will always be a part of my entity
I run from the beast throughout the night
I will have to run throughout every night
No matter how hard I try to be free
I have to avoid the fatal bite
What is the point of running tonight
when forever I will have to flee
I run from the beast throughout the night
I have to avoid the fatal bite
No matter how fast I move it is close behind me
I have to avoid the fatal bite
In the distance I see a light
But in the distance I hear the cry of a Banshee
I run from the beast throughout the night
I fear my time might come tonight
As I feel the pressure of the deep blue sea
I have to avoid the fatal bite
Little do I know I will never escape the fight
And the beast will always be a part of my entity
I run from the beast throughout the night
I will have to run throughout every night
No matter how hard I try to be free
I have to avoid the fatal bite
What is the point of running tonight
when forever I will have to flee
I run from the beast throughout the night
I have to avoid the fatal bite
