Abigail Fellin is a senior English major at Buena Vista University. She enjoys short walks to the fridge and can be commonly found

Ranelle Irwin

Ranelle Irwin is a senior English major at Buena Vista University. Ranelle’s personality varies from cinnamon roll to cinnamon
challenge. She enjoys studying Japanese, playing video games, and running her Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Ranelle does a
little bit of everything for the magazine, but she especially enjoys reading the submissions from high school students and seeing the

Tanner Jensen

Tanner Jensen is a junior English major and digital media minor at Buena Vista University. He divides his time between reading
fiction, playing video games and Dungeons and Dragons, watching anime, and taking it easy in life. Tanner works behind the
scenes with editing and evaluating submissions, and enjoys helping great works become even better.

Dalton Machholz

Dalton is a freshman history and English double major at Buena Vista University. When he is not trying to impersonate Elmer
Fudd, he enjoys walking to see his best friend, the vending machine. Dalton is still looking for a recipe to follow, but hopes to
continue studying history and pursuing his own personal writing style.

Emily Wedell

Emily Wedell is a junior English and Spanish Major at Buena Vista University. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Emily
offers a slightly different perspective of the Midwest than her peers. While others provide the sweetness and saltiness in the
magazine, Emily adds the spice. Besides her addictions to movies and a fantastic cup of coffee, she loves writing, traveling, and
reading the many works submitted to Hot Dish by high school students.

Gwen Hart

Gwen Hart is an Associate Professor of English at Buena Vista University. She is the author of two books of poetry and numerous
short stories and essays in literary magazines such as Litro, Measure, and Calliope. Her second poetry collection, The Empress of
Kisses, won the 2015 X.J. Kennedy Poetry Prize from Texas Review Press. She enjoyed seeing a number of changes in the second
year of Hot Dish Magazine, including a larger number of high-quality submissions and new partnerships between BVU students,
talented writers, and their teachers.
