The moon-shadow falls upon your freckled face
You tell me a story of when you were young
You loved summer
You loved the bright shining sun
The world was alive
You played and danced and swam
Tan lines from your swimsuit, sunburn from being out too long
Soon, you preferred spring
The summer got too hot
You started to love the rain
The world was quieter and softer
You went through sunscreen a lot slower, you got paler
Not after long, you started to love a stormy day
On the first of fall, you smiled as if you hibernated all summer
The leaves crunched and shook in the wind
You bought big thick jackets
Your cheeks grew redder as the air grew colder
Winter arrived and you had a sigh of relief
You stayed inside and covered up with blankets and wool
You tell me a story of when you were young
You loved summer
You loved the bright shining sun
The world was alive
You played and danced and swam
Tan lines from your swimsuit, sunburn from being out too long
Soon, you preferred spring
The summer got too hot
You started to love the rain
The world was quieter and softer
You went through sunscreen a lot slower, you got paler
Not after long, you started to love a stormy day
On the first of fall, you smiled as if you hibernated all summer
The leaves crunched and shook in the wind
You bought big thick jackets
Your cheeks grew redder as the air grew colder
Winter arrived and you had a sigh of relief
You stayed inside and covered up with blankets and wool
Writer's Statement: I made this in poetry class and liked how it turned out and felt it kind of represented growing up.
