Perfect
By: Laura Manis
I am not perfect
do not perceive me as so
if you set your expectations high
I’ll have no choice but to make them low
I am not perfect
do not view me as so
for when I act human
your illusion of me will crumble away
and I will be nothing to you
just remanence of an abandoned building
left only to decay.
do not perceive me as so
if you set your expectations high
I’ll have no choice but to make them low
I am not perfect
do not view me as so
for when I act human
your illusion of me will crumble away
and I will be nothing to you
just remanence of an abandoned building
left only to decay.
Writer's Statement: Poetry is an amazing outlet. It is a wonderful thing to be able to translate what’s inside your head into metaphors and rhymes! My Friend The Balloon deals with the internal struggles of mental health. I hope readers feel they are not alone! Many of us out there too, have a red balloon. I also hope readers feel the first love innocence of Eyes Intertwined and the angst of Perfect.
