Editors' Note
Hot Dish Magazine is happy to introduce three new members of the team: Dr. Annamaria Formichella, Maria Roland, and Emma Snyder. These three individuals have stepped up into their roles as editors and with their help Hot Dish has prospered. Here are their introductions:
Maria Roland is an undergraduate student majoring in English and studying for a minor in Psychology. In the future she hope to be a writer of YA fiction novels. Her favorite types of fiction are fantasy and sci-fi. She has always loved to read and write, and hopes to inspire others to read and write too. Emma Snyder is an undergraduate student working towards her BA. She is double majoring in Biomedical Sciences and English at Buena Vista University. Her work was recently published in The Albion Review. She lives in Storm Lake, Iowa. In her free time, she likes to play guitar, remodel old school buses, and sail. Dr. Annamaria Formichella is a Professor of English at Buena Vista University and the faculty advisor for Hot Dish Magazine. She is the author of numerous poems and short stories as well as scholarly articles. This is her first year working with Hot Dish, and she was impressed by the quality of the submissions. She is also grateful to her editors for their dedication to the publication and their commitment to mentoring young writers. Furthermore I would like to thank all the students who submitted their work. 2020 and 2021 have not been the best years, but the students who submitted to Hot Dish Magazine for this issue have showcased a tenacity and dedication to their poetry and stories that is reflected in the overall creativeness of each and every piece. Being able to read each poem is an honor and led to hours of enjoyment for myself. While there is so much more I could say about the overall pieces themselves, I will end my note here. Please enjoy the fifth issue of Hot Dish Magazine, "Create the Wonders We Dream". -Dalton Machholz: Editor in Chief |
