“All must die.”
The Wise Man said
As he lay the little girl in bed
“All must die.”
The Wise Man told
A Little Girl who didn’t believe
“All must die.”
He screamed and cried
To her unhearing ears.
“All must die.”
The Wise Man sighed,
As he held her in his arms.
“All must die.”
The Little Girl cried,
With her head held in her hands.
“All must die,”
“And so must I.”
As he laid down to rest.
The Wise Man said
As he lay the little girl in bed
“All must die.”
The Wise Man told
A Little Girl who didn’t believe
“All must die.”
He screamed and cried
To her unhearing ears.

With her head held in her hands.
“All must die,”
“And so must I.”
As he laid down to rest.
Writer's Statement: This is the final of the three but certainly not the last poem I will write about my Grandpa. This was written some time after his funeral. It is meant to reflect the inevitability of death. I of course knew that nobody lives forever, but I had never really accepted that the people I love would leave me for a different world. Sometimes I still don't accept it. These poems are for you Grandpa. I miss you always and I can't wait until I see you again. I love you forever. Your honey badger, Liv.
